Actor-comedian Yogi Babu is set to greet his fans with his upcoming movie Boat. It is written and directed by Chimbu Deven. The movie is touted to be an escape drama, which is set against the backdrop of Japan bombing Chennai in 1943. The music of the movie is given by Ghibran. The movie is bankrolled by Prabha Premkumar under the banner of Malli and Maanvi Makers and Chimbu Deven Entertainment. The makers recently revealed the motion poster of the movie and announced the release date of the teaser. It is scheduled to be released today, December 16 in Dubai. Amid this, Chimbu Deven shared in an interview that during the shoot, Yogi Babu fell into the sea.
While talking to The Times of India, Chimbu Deven shared the basic plot of Boat. During the bombing by the Japanese, 10 people escaped through the sea on a small boat. Unexpectedly, the boat stops in the middle of the sea. It develops a hole and begins to sink slowly. The survival of the passengers forms the basic crux of the story. Chimbu Deven later shared that during the shooting, Yogi Babu slipped and fell into the sea. “He surprised us with his swimming skills. This inspired me to go for realistic shots,” said Chimbu Deven.
The shooting is taking place in the waters of Kulasekharapatnam town near Thoothukudi district ( formerly known as Tuticorin) (Tamil Nadu). The director said that it took them 4-5 months to select the location for the shoot.
The makers announced the movie title in July. In the recently-released animated video, the makers have shown the visuals of Japanese bombings and a boat with a sinkhole. The video ended with the announcement of the teaser release date. This movie will mark the first collaboration between Chimbu Deven and Yogi Babu. The actor was last seen in the movie Kuiko, which was written and directed by T Arul Chezhian.
Yogi Babu has won the Ananda Vikatan Cinema Award three times for his performance in the movies Aandavan Kattalai, Kolamaavu Kokila and Pariyerum Perumal.
