New Delhi: Lenovo, at Mobile World Congress 2015, introduced a new device - the Vibe Shot. It is the company's first 2-in-1 camera smartphone, a crossover device. "It's first a fabulous camera that shutterbugs will love, and secondly, a performance-laden, standalone smartphone," said Lenovo in a press release.
While the mention of a camera-smartphone brings the image of the Samsung Galaxy Camera from 2012 to mind, however the Vibe Shot is more smartphone-like than camera-like unlike the Galaxy Camera.
The Vibe Shot is equipped with a 16-megapixel rear camera featuring a six-piece modular lens. The camera has a full-frame 16:9 low-light sensor for shooting images in dark interiors or at night. According to Lenovo, photo luminosity in the device adjusts automatically based on the ambient light conditions, and optical image stabilisation reduces blur and keeps photos sharp.
The Vibe Shot is claimed to be always ready to keep up with infrared focus that's twice as fast as normal autofocus and a physical shutter button, which means no more fumbling to find the right spot on the screen to click.
Equipped with both Smart preset settings and advanced Pro settings, users can use the camera how they want by easily toggling between the two settings with the flick of a switch.
The other side of the device is a standalone smartphone. It features a 5-inch FHD display, runs Android 5.0 Lollipop, and a Qualcomm Snapdragon octa-core processor coupled with 3GB of RAM. It comes with 32 GB of storage with a microSD option to expand the memory up to 128GB. The dual-SIM crossover Vibe Shot sports an 8-megapixel selfie camera.
It comes in a light aluminum frame in red, white or grey. The Vibe Shot will be available starting in June in countries where Lenovo smartphones are sold, starting at $349.
