Meerkat launches beta version for Android
On May 1, the Twitter-integrated messaging service announced the release of the public beta version of Meerkat for Android.

New Delhi: Meerkat has finally introduced a beta version of its app for the Android platform that will allow users to live-stream videos with a single touch of an on-screen button.

The company had announced its plans to launch the Android version in April and on May 1, the Twitter-integrated messaging service announced the release of the public beta version of Meerkat for Android.

Although the app is still in beta, any Android user can now watch, participate, and stream. The company email has also asked users to send in their feedback to make the app better.

Meerkat became a virtual overnight sensation since its low-key arrival on Apple's online App Store in February, but its popularity has been slowing down since Twitter introduced its immediate rival Periscope last month.

The company's move to bring the app to Android before Periscope might help it gain an edge over Periscope.

The app is now available for download on Google Play Store.
