The Vivo V20 price in India has been dropped by Rs 2,000. The information comes courtesy of offline electronics retailer Mahesh Telecom, who tweeted out new prices of the mid-premium segment Vivo V20 smartphone. Originally, the Vivo V20 price in India was pegged at Rs 24,990 for the 8GB + 128GB variant, and Rs 27,990 for the 8GB + 256GB variant. Now, updated pricing of both variants of the smartphone stands at Rs 22,990 and Rs 25,990, respectively. The Vivo V20 price in India has apparently been slashed in anticipation of the upcoming Vivo V21 series, which is rumoured to launch some time in April.
The Vivo V20 has been one of the many smartphones launched in the price bracket of Rs 20,000 to Rs 30,000. It featured a Qualcomm Snapdragon 7-series processor, and its key advertised selling points included a sleek design and a 64MP rear camera setup with bundled AI smarts. In our Vivo V20 review, we noted the smartphone for being a reliable performer as well as one that packs a fairly strong punch with its camera. However, we also criticised it for missing out on features such as a fast refresh rate display, and lack of consistency in low light camera performance — two areas where smartphones priced significantly lesser have also excelled of late.
In turn, the upcoming Vivo V21 is expected to feature a newer generation Snapdragon 7-series processor, along with possibly more RAM and an upgraded camera experience. It is unlikely that Vivo will drastically change its design language, so a number of things may remain the same between the Vivo V20 and V21. The latter is expected to come in three configurations — starting with a basic V21 SE, a standard V21 and a higher-spec V21 Pro. The overall pricing will likely remain the same, i.e. in the price band of Rs 20,000 to Rs 30,000, if reports on the matter are to be believed.
The new Vivo V20 price in India, hence, will likely hope to move standing inventory out of the way before the new generation of Vivo V-series phones are launched. Vivo is expected to launch a total of 11 smartphones in April 2021 itself, of which just the Vivo V21 range may account for three of them. More details on the rumoured smartphones should come our way soon.
