WhatsApp has introduced many new upgrades recently. In another big development, it has launched a new private tagging feature for status updates. The new feature is now starting to roll out and will be available to users worldwide soon.
This new feature allows users to privately tag contacts in their status updates, like others’ status, as well as re-share a status they are mentioned in.
In a blog post, WhatsApp developers wrote, “Make sure those closest to you see your status, and let them re-share it easily with their audience by privately mentioning them.” The company further added that those users who are mentioned in status updates will be notified privately, however, the mention won’t be shown on their status.
Other than the tagging feature, status ‘likes’ is another new addition on the platforms that allows users to let someone know that you’re enjoying their status. With a single tap of the like button, users will be able to like their contacts’ status updates.
Same as tagging, likes will be private and don’t have a counter, which means only the person whose status you liked will be able to see them in the list of viewers.
“We’ll be bringing more features to Status and the Updates tab over the next few months to make it easier to stay closest to those who matter most,” WhatsApp blog post further claimed.
Additionally, the Meta-owned company is reportedly developing a Meta AI voice mode feature. This update is expected to offer a range of voice options and facilitate two-way voice communication with artificial intelligence (AI).
Some of the voices may consist of UK accents, while others might feature US accents. The Mark Zuckerberg-led company says the new updates will make it easier for users to explore their ideas, enhance their chats, and try new things. Also, reports suggest that Meta plans to incorporate the voices of public figures, though their names remain under wraps.
