Xiaomi is moving into a new era by ending its MIUI journey and starting with the new HyperOS platform for mobile devices.
The company has already previewed the new version and shared some of the details/features that Xiaomi users can expect. We’ve already seen a core lineup of Xiaomi and Redmi phones get the new platform in December 2023 and now we have more details on the phones that will be updated to HyperOS in January 2024. Here is the full list of phones and a tablet that will be updated to HyperOS next month:
– Xiaomi 13
– Xiaomi 13 Pro
– Xiaomi 13 Ultra
– Redmi Note 12
– Redmi Note 12S
– Xiaomi Pad 6
The list clearly focuses on the premium and popular devices that Xiaomi sells in China and other countries as well. The Xiaomi 13 model is Xiaomi’s current flagship lineup, including the Xiaomi 13 Ultra that didn’t launch in many countries. But having the Redmi Note 12 and the Xiaomi Pad 6 on the list for January 2024 will definitely get people in markets like India excited where these products have been launched.
Having said that, we still don’t know if Xiaomi phones launching in India will get the new version or continue to use the MiUi custom UI itself. Other brands have also followed a dual-UI strategy that allows them to cater to the non-Google and Google-supported markets.
For instance, Vivo offers OriginOS in China while those in India get the Funtouch OS with Vivo phones launching in the country. Similarly, OnePlus has provided HydrogenOS for many years in China, while sticking with OxygenOS for devices sold in India and global markets.
Meanwhile, Xiaomi is setting the deck up for its first big launch of 2024 in India, with the new Redmi Note 13 series coming out in early January that includes the Redmi Note 13 Pro+ model as well.
