New Delhi: Asus and Xiaomi on Thursday took the Indian smartphone market by storm by introducing their new phones with top-notch specs at affordable prices.
While Asus launched four variants of the Zenfone 2 with the base model priced at Rs 12,999, Xiaomi debuted the Mi 4i (a new variant of the Mi 4) with a unibody design at the same price.
The launch of these new phones not only add new options to the catalogue of budget phones for users here, but also set a new benchmark for the handsets under the sub-Rs 15K category.
We pit the two phones against each other to understand which has an edge over the other and which one could offer better value for money. From the specs comparison it appears that the Mi 4i is thinner and lighter than the Asus Zenfone 2.
Also, the Mi 4i has a 1080p (full HD) display in comparison to the 720p display of the Zenfone 2. While the Zenfone 2 seems to be losing to the Mi 4 on many fronts, were it takes away the cake is on the storage front.
Asus' Zenfone 2 supports a microSD card of up to 64GB to create more storage room for users. The Mi 4i, on the other hand, has no such provision.
While we are yet to review both the models, we can talk about the Zenfone 2's camera as it is the same as the one on Rs 19,999 Zenfone 2 variant, which we have reviewed. The Zenfone 2's camera is one of its strengths, but it is yet to be determined that how it performs against the Xiaomi Mi 4i.
