Nakuul Mehta Reveals How Wife Jankee Parekh Taught Him To Be ‘Equal Partners’
Nakuul Mehta shared that Jankee paid more income tax than he earned during the first few years of married life and never made him feel less for not being successful.

Nakuul Mehta is one of the most sought-after names in the television industry. He has spent over a decade in the industry and has been part of some successful shows. While the actor is quite established in his professional life, on the personal front, he indeed has an ideal life with his wife Jankee and son Sufi. Recently, in an interview, the actor spoke about the unconventional gender roles in the early years of his relationship with Jankee. He added that Jankee married him even though he was not successful at the time.

In a conversation with Nikhil Taneja on the show Be A Man Yaar, Nakuul Mehta said, “We got married, I didn’t have a job. My bank savings were under Rs 1 lakh. She decided to trust in a person.” Nakuul mentioned that in their initial years as a couple, Jankee was paying more income tax than he was earning. But amid this, “She’s never made me feel less of a man because I’m not successful, and there have been many parts of my life when I haven’t been…”

Speaking about sharing their lives as equal partners, Nakuul Mehta said, “When we started dating, she used to drop me home, and then she used to drive home. Whoever had the money on the particular date used to pay. In unspoken ways, Jankee has taught him to be an equal partner.” Nakuul Mehta expressed that when he first met Jankee, he knew that if he marries her, his life would be “sorted.”

Although the actor is very close to his wife, he shared that he has never cried in front of Jankee

Nakuul revealed, “I internalized my failures. My wife, Jankee, is the person closest to me, yet I couldn’t share my bad day with her”. Nakuul and Jankee married in 2012. In 2021, they welcomed their first child, a son named Sufi.

Nakuul Mehta gained a lot of recognition recently for his roles in Bade Achhe Lagte Hain’s second and third seasons. In the interview, Nakuul also spoke about his role as Ram Kapoor, whom he believes was a feminist character. “In the show, Ram Kapoor portrays a character with feminist values, and I believe that much of it reflects the lessons I’ve learned, which I integrate into my own characters.”

In 2012, Nakuul Mehta made his acting debut as Aditya Kumar in the popular show Pyaar Ka Dard Hai Meetha Meetha Pyaara Pyaara. He rose to prominence after playing Shivaay Singh Oberoi in Ishqbaaaz. He has also been part of web shows like Never Kiss Your Best Friend.
