The Chepauk witnessed a sea of yellow on May 12 when Chennai Super Kings played their last home game of this Indian Premier League (IPL) against Rajasthan Royals. It was a do-or-die game for CSK, who secured a five-wicket victory in the home fixture to keep their playoff hope alive. After the match, the Chennai-based franchise urged the home crowd to stay back.
A post-match event was slated to take place to honour the players and appreciate the support of the fans. Every person present at the venue seemed to have accepted the invitation. Former Zimbabwean cricketer Mpumelelo Mbangwa was stunned when he saw the entire Chepuak remain seated even after the on-field actions were wrapped up.

Mbangwa was one of the commentators, who were covering the match between Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals at the MA Chidambaram Stadium. The other members of the panel had already signed off and Mbangwa was also getting ready to leave. That’s when he looked out and found that no CSK fans had left their seats yet.
Mbangwa was quite overwhelmed by the scene, assuming the loyalty of the CSK faithful. The cricketer-turned-commentator revealed his excitement in a face cam video and later dropped it on Instagram. The caption of the post read, “Fans and team are together.”
“Look at the crowd. They are still here. All are in their seats and no one has moved. It seems like another game is to go on,” Mpumelelo Mbangwa was heard saying in the clip. At that moment, Harsha Bhogle was gearing up for the post-match presentation ceremony amid loud cheers echoing from every nook and corner of Chepauk.
At the post-match event, all members of the Chennai Super Kings were given a lap of honour. MS Dhoni, along with the other players, took a stroll around the field while waving at the fans. The former CSK captain also sent some signed tennis balls into the crowd. Suresh Raina, a former member of the Super Kings family, marked his presence at the event as well.
