Delhi Metro: Passenger Beats Man Caught Stealing a Wallet, Internet Divided After Video Goes Viral

Delhi Metro has earned a reputation for being a theater of daily drama. Step into a coach any day, and you’re likely to witness fights, impromptu dance performances, and all sorts of antics, leaving commuters unfazed by the commotion. The latest addition to this ongoing saga involves a viral video where a passenger is seen beating a man caught stealing a purse.

Shared on ‘X’ by ‘Ghar Ke Kalesh’, the video captures an elderly man delivering a thorough beating to the alleged thief inside the metro coach. The caption reveals that the thief was caught red-handed trying to steal a purse. Once his mischief was uncovered, the elderly man took it upon himself to deliver swift justice, slapping, hitting, and kicking the thief, while other passengers stood by, recording the spectacle.

Despite the thief’s repeated apologies and desperate pleas for mercy, the middle-aged passenger remained unmoved, continuing to thrash him. The thief, in a bid to earn forgiveness, even tried to sit and catch the elderly man’s feet, crying out, “Uncle ji mar jaunga. Aaj ke baad nahi hoga” (Uncle, I will die. It won’t happen after today). But the uncle showed no signs of stopping.

The clip quickly went viral, igniting a flurry of reactions from the public. Social media users found themselves divided. Many condemned the excessive violence, suggesting that handing the thief over to the police would have been more appropriate. “I admit that the thief stole but he is apologizing, after that what is the point of beating him like this, you can hand him over to the police, no one has the right to beat him,” commented one ‘X’ user. Another added, “Stealing is wrong, it does no good to anyone. This person stole the purse, which is a wrong thing, but the way he is being treated is also not humane…” The third one said, “You can’t beat someone that badly..”

On the other hand, some felt the actions were justified. “To kya aarti utarte…? Uncle ji is a soft hearted person,” one user sarcastically noted. Another chimed in with, “Belt treatment.”
