A Karnataka doctor was sacked after engaging in a pre-wedding shoot with his fiancée within the confines of an operation theatre at a government hospital. The state government served a notice to the erring doctor, identified as Abhishek, who was a contract physician, following the circulation of a video capturing the incident in Bharamasagara, Chitradurga district.
In the footage, Dr. Abhishek is observed ‘performing’ a surgery on a patient, while his partner aids him in simulating a surgical procedure. The couple appeared equipped with medical tools and a fully set up lighting arrangement in the background. Laughter from camera persons and other technicians can be heard as they document the spectacle.

The theme of the pre-wedding photoshoot seemed to revolve around medical procedures, with the video concluding with the ‘patient’ sitting up post-operation and laughing.

After the video gained traction on social media and triggered widespread criticism, Karnataka’s Health Minister, Dinesh Gundu Rao, mandated the dismissal of Dr. Abhishek from his position. In his statement accompanying the notice, the minister remarked, “Government hospitals exist for the health care of people and not for personal work. I cannot tolerate such indiscipline from doctors.”
“I have already instructed the concerned doctors and all the staff to be careful so that such abuses do not happen in government hospitals. Everyone should focus on performing the duty knowing that the facilities provided by the government to the government hospitals are for the health care of the common people,” he concluded.
But this wasn’t the first time pre-wedding shoots had taken a bizarre turn. In another curious incident, a couple staged an Undertaker-inspired photoshoot, defying gravity and convention with daring poses that left onlookers amazed.
