Laos Woman Shocked To Find Dead Lizard Inside Ordered Meal

Various food items are packed in plastic packets these days – from chips and biscuits to namkeen. Companies often follow strict protocols and health safety standards to ensure quality food products to consumers. But,there have been times when the packaging of food has been done carelessly. On various occasions, people have found insects, dirt or spoiled food inside the packages. How would you react if you opened a package of food and found a dead lizard in it? A similar incident happened with a Laotian woman. As per the Daily Star News, the woman named Lisa Maneevanh is a resident of Luang Prabang, Laos. Lisa shared a photo of sticky rice in bamboo (Khao Lam) on the We Are Consumers Facebook page. This particular dish is quite popular in Southeast Asia and is generally made by roasting a mixture of rice with black-eyed peas or beans, coconut milk and grated coconut and palm sugar in bamboo tubes over fire for 1.5 hours. So, naturally, when Lisa opened the food packet to eat it, she was shocked to find a dead gecko right in the centre of the cooked rice.

According to Lisa, her vegetarian food smelled like grilled meat. Reportedly, her post sparked a reaction on social media and left the internet disgusted. Many British fish and chips stores in the area have been reportedly selling shark meat to unaware customers.

Previously, in India, a customer living in Hyderabad placed an order for chicken biryani through the food ordering app, Zomato. When the man named Vishwa Aditya opened the packaged food, he noticed a dead lizard in it. Reportedly, he raised an issue with the restaurant but did not receive any convincing response. He shared a video of the food on social media.

It read, “Lizard in chicken biryani at Loni Bavarchi Hotel Hyderabad RTC Cross Road”, read a part of the caption. The video showed biryani, onion rings and chutney. Upon closer look, you will be able to spot the dead lizard.
