Fainting on your wedding day is something you never expect, but for bride Catherine Franks, it became a surreal reality. In a TikTok video that has gone viral, Catherine collapsed just moments after exchanging vows with her husband. The unexpected unfolded as 28-year-old Catherine Franks was tying the knot with her fiancé Alex Franks in a Louisiana church in the US. She suddenly collapsed in front of hundreds of guests, causing even the priest to appear concerned.
The couple’s wedding ceremony came to an unexpected pause right after they had successfully exchanged their vows. Just an hour before, Catherine had boarded a retro school bus, filled with excitement as she shared with her bridesmaids her anticipation of officially becoming “Franks”. But instead of cherishing the moment of becoming a wife, all she remembers is waking up flat on her back at the altar, surrounded by her friends and family.
As the couple was declared husband and wife, Catherine, a speech therapist, suddenly lost her balance during the ceremony, prompting her worried partner, Alex, to quickly come to her aid. In the wedding video, Catherine can be seen collapsing to the ground multiple times as the bridesmaids and groom try to support her. Cameras captured the moment she lay on the floor of the altar while everyone around her rushed to cool her down.
Reflecting on the incident, Catherine shared, “We reached the wedding ceremony, and as we stood at the altar with everyone watching, I started feeling a bit light-headed. I think we had just said “I do” and was waiting on the final prayer, so we were technically married. We’d been standing there for about 40 minutes.”
“My husband knew something was wrong and kept looking at me,’ she continued, ‘and I said “I think I’m going to pass out.” I started getting tunnel vision and feeling light-headed. The next thing I knew, I woke up and just saw boots around me because my dad and husband wore cowboy boots.”
Mrs. Franks, who met her husband on the dating app Hinge and got engaged in August 2022, shared how her husband’s support helped her regain composure after the incident. “My husband was really worried about me. I heard people say “is she okay?” and “get her some water.” He said to me “it’s okay, you’ll be fine,”‘ she said. “I’m a pretty clumsy person, so I’m kind of used to things like that happening to me. Lots of people came up to me at the reception and asked if I was okay,” the 28-year-old woman said.
Mrs. Franks, who tied the knot last July, revealed that the incident has turned into a “family joke.” The viral video has now accumulated more than 500,000 views.
