Now, a young Chinese man has gone so far as to pay Rs 17,000 a day to a bodyguard to look rich and leave a good impression on people.
According to a South China Morning Post report, Xioran from the Hebei province in northern China has hired a bodyguard for himself. Xiaoran, who works in Beijing, has reportedly hired a bodyguard, whose services include providing security and carrying bags and umbrellas for him.
According to reports, the primary reason for hiring the bodyguard is to look rich and get a bride for himself. To make the most of it, Xiaoran used the bodyguard to escort him to his hometown during the Spring Festival where he can impress his neighbours and local matchmakers.
The neighbours of Xiaoran who used to argue with him regarding the use of shared land between their properties, have now taken a relaxed response to the situation and allowed Xiaoran’s family to use it.
According to reports, Xiaoran’s case is one among the thousands of people in the country who hire bodyguard services from E-commerce platforms. It usually takes place during the months of Lunar New Year.
According to Taobao, which is operated by the Alibaba Group, the number of people inquiring about the service has shown a significant increase four-fold from the last year. These services are provided by professional security companies which are based in first-tier and second-tier cities.
As per the requirement, the security companies have male and female bodyguards. The male bodyguards are all above the height of 180cm and weigh at least 80kg. They are well-trained in physical combat skills and business etiquette.
