The edtech company’s founder, Alakh Pandey, met a student who has made a remarkable journey from the narrow lanes of his slum to the prestigious Indian Institutes of Technology (IIT).

The series of videos captures Pandey’s interaction with the student named Abhishek Sujit Sharma’s entire family inside their small bedroom room in a Mumbai slum. In one of the videos, the Physics Wallah founder can be seen having food on a cot and talking to the boy’s mother as she recounts her son’s stories. “He used to lie around on the chair whenever he would get tired. He would even climb to the terrace to get WiFi,” she says.

In another video, Alakh Pandey speaks to his family, asking about their livelihood in the small room with a common bathroom for everyone to share. He even announced a scholarship of Rs 6,00,000 to honour his achievement from a slum to IIT Roorkee.

In reaction to the videos, many took to the comment section and lauded Alakh Pandey’s humble gesture and down-to-earth personality.
