Watch: Thrilling Face-Off Between Tiger And Cobra In Maharashtra's Tadoba-Andhari Reserve
The tiger took a few steps back to maintain a safe distance from the venomous cobra.

The tiger is recognised as one of the deadliest predators in the world. But how will this mighty creature react when it faces the cobra – a highly venomous member of the snake family? A rare encounter between these two animals was recently spotted by a group of tourists during a jungle safari in the Tadoba-Andhari Tiger Reserve in Maharashtra. The footage was first posted on X by an account named Nature is Amazing with the title – “Tiger vs Cobra”. Later, Indian Forest Service (IFS) officer, Ramesh Pandey, reshared the clip from his personal handle with the caption, “Interaction of a Cobra and a Young Tiger. Interesting to watch.”

The video opens with a tiger standing in the middle of a muddy creek. The big cat perhaps had a plan to cross the stream. At that moment, a cobra was seen slithering through the water body. The tiger immediately stopped moving as soon as it spotted the snake.

The cobra might have sensed a danger as it turned to the tiger and warned it by flaring the hood. The four-legged animal neither made any attempt to attack nor tried to leave the spot. Instead, it took a few steps back to maintain a safe distance from the venomous cobra.

The video has grabbed the eyeballs of many nature lovers, who found the face-off between the tiger and the cobra quite fascinating. One of the viewers admitted, “I’m always amazed how animals recognise danger. Living in Thailand, even our dog knows when to leave certain bugs and other critters alone.”

A user feels the tiger was confused about “how to tackle this situation” and that’s why it preferred “discretion over valour.”

Another viewer commented, “A life lesson to all those claiming to be Tigers and Lions, that one needs to step back at times and not just pounce on everything. Life is a blessing and living is an art. Manoeuvre it in style.”

According to a report by India Today, the video was recorded on August 8 by Sudhir Charmode who works as a tour guide in Tadoba-Andhari Tiger Reserve and Umred Karhandla Wildlife Sanctuary. He shared his experience in a recent interview with the outlet. “Like a daily routine, I was with my guests on a safari tour. At around 4:30 pm, we witnessed an interesting encounter between a tiger and a cobra. The guests were delighted to see such a rare sight,” Charmode recalled.

Since being shared by IFS Ramesh Pandey, the video has accumulated more than 40,000 views on X platform.
