ISIS Leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi Killed in Air Strike: Reports
Iraq claimed to have struck a convoy carrying Baghdadi in an air raid near the Syrian border.

Islamic State group leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi was killed in NATO air strikes near Mosul close to Syrian border.

Earlier June 11, Iraq claimed to have struck a convoy carrying Baghdadi in an air raid near the Syrian border but his fate was unknown.

An Iraqi security statement issued recently, reads, "Iraqi aircraft hit Baghdadi's convoy as it was "moving towards Karabla to attend a meeting of the Daesh (IS) terrorist leaders."

Karabla is on the Euphrates barely five kilometres (three miles) from the Syrian border in western Anbar, a vast Iraqi province which has long been a Sunni insurgent stronghold.

Interior ministry spokesman Saad Maan had said that, "the strike was on Saturday afternoon".

Baghdadi's death would give the war against the most violent jihadist organisation in modern history a much-needed boost.
