Hyderabad: Cherlapalli Railway Station Set To Open, But How Will Passengers Get There?
The recently completed second phase of the Multi-Modal Transport System (MMTS) was supposed to provide direct routes to Cherlapalli, but services haven't started yet.

The new Cherlapalli railway station, developed at a whopping Rs 430 crore, is being hailed as a world-class facility, rivaling even the best airports in India.

However, as the station gears up for its grand launch next month, there’s a glaring problem—how will passengers actually reach it?

The Telangana government had planned to widen roads leading to the station, but these plans have hit a roadblock due to a lack of coordination among authorities. As a result, the much-needed road expansion work has come to a standstill, leaving passengers in a lurch.

Adding to the woes, the newly completed second phase of the Multi-Modal Transport System (MMTS) isn’t offering any relief either. Despite the completion of railway tracks, services towards the Cherlapalli station haven’t been launched, making it difficult for commuters from areas like Lingampalli, Medchal, Malkajgiri, and Kacheguda to access the station, according to Telangana Today.

Currently, there are only two main routes to Cherlapalli, both of which are narrow and in desperate need of widening. The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) had identified 20 properties for demolition to make way for broader roads, but resistance from local residents has stalled the project.

If the station opens without these approach roads in place, major traffic jams are almost certain, leaving passengers struggling to reach the station on time. The lack of coordination among various departments is being blamed for the delays, raising serious concerns about the station’s accessibility once it opens to the public.
