Mercedes Benz on December 14 launched the much awaited C43 AMG at the Budh International Circuit in Greater Noida. This was the brand's 13th product launch this year, and the third AMG launch in 2016.
Previously, the AMG GLE 43 Coupe and the AMG SLC 43 were launched. The AMG C43 is priced at Rs 74.35 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi), which falls in between the entry level Mercedes-Benz C200 petrol and the Mercedes-AMG C63.
The AMG C43 4MATIC is yet another addition to the C-Class portfolio, created by the developers at Affalterbach.
The C43 coupe complements the C63 coupe. It comes with a 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged V-6, which produces 367 bhp and 570 Nm of torque, mated to a nine-speed automatic. The C43 AMG can do 0-100 kmph in 4.7 seconds.
It now also features AMG ride control, which translates to a sports suspensions setup with AMG developed springs and a three stage variable damper. The body too has been modified to give a more aggressive and masculine appeal.
Inside the new C43, there're more sporty bits compared to the previous car. It will have options of red accents on the door panels and aluminium accents on the dashboard. The instrument cluster has also gotten a sporty AMG feel.
The C43 features a modified chassis setup with more negative wheel camber, sports-tuned steering system and larger brakes (14.2-inch vented and perforated front discs, 12.6-inch vented rears).
The C43 comes with an all-wheel-drive setup, and so could be pitted against the likes of the Audi S4, however Audi India have discontinued S4 sales in India. Hence, it could be compared to Audi S5 Sportback and the upcoming Polestar variant of the Volvo S60.
The C43 is a big leap for the regular C-class range, but there's a lot of room for AMG C63 coupe that is expected to be more powerful.
