New BMW 7-Series Luxury Sedan Unveiled Along With All-Electric i7 With 483 km Range
Luxury automobile manufacturer BMW announced a new electric 7 series luxury sedan -- i7 xDrive60 -- with an estimated range of "up to 300 miles".

German automaker BMW has unveiled its 2022 7 series sedan which is expected to enter the global market this November. The new 7 series car’s look has been changed significantly which differentiates it from other models. But, despite the cosmetic changes, the BMW has still retained the classic front grille and has even made it bigger than before. In addition, the grille comes with BMW’s ‘Iconic Lighting treatment’, according to Autocar India.

In terms of design, the 7 series gets separated headlamps which were seen in the recently facelifted BMW X7. The LED lights have been placed above while the main headlamp is positioned below it in a separate recess.

The traditional door handles on the car have been replaced with new ones having an internal touchpad and electronic mechanism like those seen in BMW iX.

The 7 series is being offered in different M packages. These include M Performance, M Sport, and M Sport Pro. BMW also offers a choice of blackened or chrome styling elements while the wheel size also has options available.

BMW has increased the length of the new 7 series by 130 mm making the car now 5,391mm long. The car has also got wider by 48 mm and taller by 51 mm, thus making it appear sizable.

The wheelbase of the 7 series models remains the same at 3,215 mm but the wheel size ranges from 19 inch, which is standard, to 22 inch which comes with the M Performance styling package.

Reportedly, BMW has planned to launch the car with a number of powertrain options. These include plug-in hybrid, mild-hybrid petrol and diesel, and pre-electric units as well. All these will power both the axles as standard.

BMW 740d xDrive, which happens to be the sole diesel in the lineup, will arrive internationally in 2023. It has been powered by a newly developed version of the automaker’s 3.0-litre straight-six diesel with mild-hybrid assistance and Euro-6D compliance. The car boasts a combined power of 299 hp and can clock 0-100 kmph in just 6.3 seconds. The top speed of the 240d xDrive is 250 kmph.
