The construction of Delhi’s section of the Delhi-Meerut Rapid Rail Transit System (RRTS) is nearing completion, with expectations high for a trial run by the end of this year. Spanning 14 kilometers, the Delhi section includes 9 kilometers of elevated tracks and 5 kilometers underground. Meanwhile, the Sahibabad-Modi Nagar section has already commenced operational services.

Key stations for the Rapid Rail in Delhi will include New Delhi, Anand Vihar, New Ashok Nagar, Sarai Kale Khan, and Jangpura. Construction at Sarai Kale Khan station is progressing swiftly, encompassing roofing and finishing touches. The station boasts four tracks and six platforms, with plans for a footbridge linking Veer Hakikat Rai ISBT and Hazrat Nizamuddin railway station.

At New Ashok Nagar station, major infrastructure components such as roofing and rail lines have been completed, with final finishing work underway. The station, elevated 22 meters above ground, will feature foot over-bridges connecting it to the metro station and surrounding locales, including Chilla Gaon and Mayur Vihar Extension.

An additional 8 kilometers from Modi Nagar to Meerut South is in advanced stages of construction. Notably, 70 kilometers of the corridor will be elevated, while 12 kilometers will operate underground.

Of the total corridor length, 68 kilometers fall within Uttar Pradesh, with the remaining 14 kilometers situated in Delhi. Project completion and full operational status are anticipated by the end of the following year.
