Top Upcoming SUVs to Launch in India in 2019 – Tata Harrier, Nissan Kicks and More
With SUVs like Tata Harrier and Nissan Kicks about to enter the Indian automobile market in 2019, we have compiled a list of the top SUVs to rollout this year.

It’s no secret, the segment that has been gaining popularity the fastest in India has to be the SUV/MPV segment. And as a result, automakers are trying to launch the new and updated SUVs in the Indian market to meet the increasing consumer's demand. 2018 witnessed the launch of some really good SUVs and 2019 is expected to be even more interesting. Many automakers have already unveiled their products for 2019 and some have kept it a secret. If you are planning to by a new SUV that can carry your family in comfort without burning a hole in your pocket, here is a list of top 5 SUVs that will be launched in India this year.

1. Tata Harrier

Tata Motors is all set to launch its much-awaited SUV Tata Harrier on 23rd January 2019. The car has been completely revealed by the company and the dealers across India are also accepting booking for the same. Based on the IMPACT Design 2.0 philosophy, Tata Harrier SUV is engineered on the new generation ‘Optimal Modular Efficient Global Advanced’ Architecture, which is derived from the legendary Land Rover D8 architecture and developed in collaboration with Jaguar Land Rover. At the front, the car gets dual tone bumper with satin silver chin guard, xenon HID projector headlamps and dual function LED DRLs with turn indicators.

The Tata Harrier SUV is powered by Kryotec 2.0 diesel engine that produces 140 PS of power and churns out 350 Nm of peak torque. The engine is mated to a 6-speed manual transmission. The car gets 3 engine drive modes – Eco, City and Sport that are married to ESP terrain response modes – Normal, Rough and Wet for taking on difficult terrains.

2. Nissan Kicks

Yet another global brand that specializes in manufacturing SUVs is Nissan Motors. The Japanese auto brand is part of the much bigger Renault-Nissan alliance and will launch the Nissan Kicks, based on the similar lines of the Renault Captur – an SUV that excites buyers aiming for Hyundai Creta to the pricier Jeep Compass. The Kicks has an almost coupé-like profile, spacious cabin, and quite tech loaded. The Kicks will be a more loaded and urbane version of the Terrano compact SUV. Its pricing, though will be on the higher side. Nissan has unveiled the exterior design of its much-awaited SUV in India. The new Nissan Kicks sports a wider and robust style underlined by a sonic plus line, wheel-oriented stance and a 3-dimensional presence.

3. Hyundai Carlino (QXi)

Hyundai showcased their smallest SUV concept called the Carlino at the Delhi Auto Expo 2016. According to sources, Carlino's production version may be underway, and that the company aims to roll it in the market in 2019. The QXi will sit below the Creta and will rival the popular Maruti Suzuki Brezza and Ford EcoSport. It is not known yet how much of the Carlino's looks from the concept will remain in the production version. The concept has boxy styling cues which is quite a change for Hyundai, which so far stuck with Fluidic Sculpture 2.0 family design.

4. Mahindra XUV300

Mahindra recently unveiled the name it much-anticipated compact SUV, codenamed S201, as the XUV300 and the car is expected to launch in India on February 15. The XUV300 shares its platform with the SsangYong Tivoli which is a globally successful product that has sold over 2.6 lakh vehicles in 50+ countries since its launch in 2015. The Tivoli has also received multiple safety and ergonomic awards including a Grade 1 safety award from the 2015 KNCAP (Korean New Car Assessment Program), automotive safety test. The XUV300 will be manufactured at the company's manufacturing facility at Nasik. The new XUV300 carries forward the characteristics of the XUV500 with its cheetah-inspired design and advanced technology features.

5. Kia SP Concept

At the Auto Expo 2018, Kia Motors unveiled its SP Concept, an SUV designed and developed for the Indian market. It will be the first product to go on sale in the country in the second half of 2019. At the front, Kia SP concept gets a tiger nose grill which is seen in many Kia cars. The SP Concept's lamp design meets slims graphics and functionality through a top and bottom headlamp connected to a wide front grille. The DRLs in high-tech graphics and positioning lamps leading to front grille helps produce differentiated images during day/night. An all-new 1.5-litre diesel engine with BS6 compliance and other improvements could power the Kia SP Concept. The engine is said to have a power out of 115 hp and 250 Nm of torque.
