Teams from all across the world are preparing themselves for the 2023 ODI World Cup in India. Just two weeks before the much awaited World Cup kicks off, Netherlands are currently holding a camp in Alur, Bengaluru. The team had advertised for the need of a few local net bowlers. To everyone’s surprise, they also found one! All thanks to a Swiggy delivery executive from Chennai. He has been selected as one of the four net bowlers for the side. Netherlands made it to the World Cup after finishing second in the World Cup qualifiers.
29-year-old Lokesh Kumar is a left-arm-pacer-turned-wrist-spin bowler. He was picked to bowl at the Netherlands batters during the camp in Bengaluru. While speaking to the Times of India, he said, “This is one of the most precious moments of my career. I am yet to even play in the TNCA third division league.”

Explaining the entire process, he said, “After seeing the advertisement, I was keen to give it a try. I felt that I would have an edge over others as there are not many wrist spin bowlers in the country. The Netherlands were on the lookout for a mystery spinner and I ticked that box. So, I decided to give it a try.”
Lokesh shared how his ability to bowl left-arm wrist spin was something that made him apply for the role.
