Bengaluru's 'High-Tech Dosa' Shop Using Broom to Clean Tawa Has Internet Asking, 'Is This Hygiene?'
Viral video showing Bengaluru eatery using broom to clean tawa before 'deep frying' Dosas on it has internet concerned.

Gone are the days when Dosas were solely recognised for their delightful blend of taste and health and a Bengaluru eatery just proved that right. A video showcasing what is touted as the ‘most high-tech dosa’ in the city is making waves, and unfortunately, not for the right reasons. In the viral footage, a chef from the renowned Rameshwaram cafe can be observed employing a rather bizarre method – using a broom to cleanse the cooking surface before generously dousing the Dosas with ghee. Understandably, the eatery is facing criticism as diners are finding it hard to digest.

The video, shared on Facebook by ‘Thefoodiebae,’ captures the chef moistening the tawa with water and then utilizing a broom for cleaning. Following this, he proceeds to ladle Dosa batter onto the expansive tawa, preparing multiple servings. However, matters take a turn for the worse when copious amounts of ghee are poured onto the Dosas, followed by the customary Aloo Masala and spices.

Thus, witnessing a broom on the tawa, coupled with an excessive pour of ghee, has led netizens to question the validity of labelling it the ‘most high-tech dosa.’

Here’s the Viral Video:

One user expressed their concern, stating, “Please don’t use the broom to spread the oil. We know that you are improvising but you may choose to opt for a custom-made oil brush… It’s not pleasant to watch brooms, toothbrushes, toilet brushes, and wipers being improvised for cooking purposes… specific tools have been made for specific purposes." Another user humourously speculated, “It’s most hi tech I hope that broom is not used to sweep the floor after the restaurant is closed…," while a third one declared, “I will never eat this type dosa so dirty cleaning tawa with broom and spreading so much oil and Messi masala so much irritated me."

Meanwhile, those concerned about the excessive use of ghee also voiced their opinions. “If you eat this dosa twice, you will see heaven," joked one user. Another expressed their health concerns, saying, “Dont they realize, using this much ghee harm the health of the consumer? To make money and sell things, how come they produce such products?"
