Did You Know Late Kannada Actor Vishnuvardhan Gained Fame After Doing Many Double And Triple Roles?

Sampath Kumar, popularly known as Vishnuvardhan, is a well-known name in the history of Kannada movies. The late actor worked in about 200 feature films, the majority of which were in Kannada, while others were in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Hindi. Did you know that he is one of the actors who has portrayed double roles and triple roles in multiple movies which earned him much fame?

The actor marked his acting debut in 1971 with the movie Vamsha Vriksha, directed by Girish Karnad. However, the actor shot to fame after he portrayed his versatility in every movie he worked in. The actor became quite famous for also portraying dual or triple roles in the movies which left his fans and viewers in awe of his acting skills.

When the concept of double roles was introduced in cinema, it generated a lot of buzz and curiosity amongst viewers as they saw the actor in two different characters on a single screen.

This also led to a lot of fascination with the movies. Vishnuvardhan was first seen in the double role in the movie Onde Roopa Eradu Guna where he shared the screen with Ambareesh, TN Balakrishna and many others. In yet another movie titled Jamindaru, he gained immense love for his exceptional acting skills in a double role. This 2002 movie was directed by S Narayan.

In the same year, S Narayan delivered yet another movie with Vishnuvardhan and this time offered him a triple role in the movie. The name of the movie is Simhadriya Simha and also features Meena, Bhanupriya, Shivaram and MS Umesh, to name a few.

As per reports, whenever S Narayan approached the actor with a new story, Vishnuvardhan would always ask one question, whether “this time it was a double or triple role”. In this way, the double and triple roles in Vishnuvardhan’s illustrative career have given him much love and garnered him many admirers as well.

On the work front, Vishnuvardhan was last seen in the movie Aptharakshaka by P Vasu where he was for the last time seen in a double role. The movie was released in 2010 after he died in 2009.
