Looks like 2023 has been the year of grand success for the Deol brothers — Bobby and Sunny Deol — who delivered massive hits at the theatres. They made a remarkable comeback on the silver screen. The duo have struggled for a long time and are now basking in the success of their respective movies. In 2001, a movie took the box office by storm and left the audience hooked on to the story and its beautiful songs. Gadar: Ek Prem Katha, directed by Anil Sharma starring Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel in the lead roles as Tara Singh and Sakina touched the hearts of the audience. Now, after 22 years, Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel reprised their roles in Gadar 2 and brought the nostalgia back to the theatres, after it emerged to be a blockbuster this year.

Gadar 2 hit the theatres on August 11, 2023, and is directed by Anil Sharma. The movie was made with a budget of Rs 60 crore. On its opening day, Gadar 2 collected Rs 40.10 crore. By the first weekend, it minted over Rs 134.88 crore. By September 14, the movie had minted Rs 625.54 crore in India and a further Rs 65.54 crore overseas. Its total worldwide collection is Rs 691.08 crore.

After Sunny Deol shot to fame yet again, next was his brother’s turn to shine and leave the audience in awe with his acting skills. Bobby Deol delivered an outstanding performance with his character Abrar Haque from Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s recently released movie, Animal. He became the talk of the town. In fact, his entry song, Jamal Kudu, has become a rage online with everyone attempting to dance like him with a whiskey glass on their head. He portrayed the role of a villain in the movie and has been earning many accolades and appreciation for his movie.

Animal was released on December 1 and also starred Ranbir Kapoor, Anil Kapoor, Rashmika Mandanna, Tripti Dimri, Saurabh Shukla and many others. The movie was made with a budget of Rs 100 crore and received mixed to negative criticism at the box office with many calling the movie to be aggressive, full of violence and filled with misogynistic remarks. A certain section of the audience has appreciated the storyline. It was the fourth-biggest movie with the highest advance booking in Hindi cinemas and the third-highest for 2023 after Jawan and Pathaan. On its opening day, the movie collected Rs 63.8 crore. As of December 17, 2023, Animal grossed over Rs 842.48 crore worldwide.
