The classy Indian batsman has been with the Bengaluru-based side for over a decade and is considered one of their own by the RCB fanbase. And they made their love for the 35-year-old known as he came on to replace Gill.
Kohli has been in incredible touch in the ongoing ICC showpiece as he went past South Africa’s Quinton de Kock in the race for the golden bat as the campaign’s highest run scorer with his knock against the Dutch.
India have been incredible in the 50-over spectacle so far with an unbeaten record of eight games ahead of the game against the Netherlands. Rohit and Co. have already secured their place in the knockout stages of the World Cup as they sealed the top spot, to set up a semifinal encounter against the strong New Zealand side that finished fourth in the table.
The other semifinal of the tournament will be contested between South Africa and Australia, who finished 3rd and 4th respectively on the table.
