Ananya Panday is currently basking in the success of her recently released film, Kho Gaye Hum Kahan. The actress portrayed the role of Ahana, a 20-something girl navigating love and life in the digital era, creating a significant impact. As the actress juggles between her upcoming projects, she recently revealed that her parents wanted her to finish college before making her debut with Karan Johar’s Student Of The Year.
In an interview with Galatta Plus, the actress shared that before going to college, she had the opportunity to meet Karan Johar, for whom she auditioned for Student Of The Year 2 and got the role. “The film worked out for me. But they (her parents), still at that time, were like, ‘Listen, we think you should go to college. You want to do the film. So later, if things don’t work out, don’t blame us. Don’t say we made you do this because we want you to attend college.’ But it was solely my decision,” Ananya shared.
Ananya shared that she always wanted to become an actor, but the acting bug never came from her father. She shared that her dad, Chunky, never took her to film sets. “It was also something my parents didn’t take seriously when I said I wanted to be an actor. They were always kind of particular about my college and education, finishing that, and having a backup.”
She then further added, “Because my dad (Chunky Panday) has had a successful run, but it’s been filled with ups and downs. It’s not been the smoothest of journeys. More than anything, he understood how hazy it is. The failure rate is higher than the success rate. So he wanted me to have a backup. And his parents were doctors. So it’s a generational thing that’s been happening in our family.”
Meanwhile, on the work front, Ananya Panday will be next seen in Control and Call My Bae.
