Kareena Kapoor opened up about Ranbir Kapoor’s dark performance in Animal. The controversial film, directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, was released in December and it featured Ranbir in a never-before-seen avatar. The actor played a violent character who would do anything for his father. While the film left everyone divided, Kareena spoke about his performance and said Ranbir’s innate honesty helped him to empathise with his character and dive deep into the character.
Speaking on the BeerBiceps podcast, Kareena said, “Empathy is an important aspect in your performance. To feel what the character is feeling and to bring out that emotion is also very important.” Praising him, Kareena described him as a ‘deadly combination’ of Rishi Kapoor and Neetu Kapoor.
“Ranbir has the attitude, confidence and that air that nobody has in the Indian film industry. I don’t even think I am biased because I genuinely believe that there is no one like Ranbir Kapoor. He is a deadly combination because Chintu uncle was also a deadly actor, same is Neetu aunty,” she said.
Recently, Karan Johar also opened up about Ranbir Kapoor’s Animal and said that he loved the film. “There’s been a lot of debate on Animal. People have expressed opinions, stood for it or against it—the filmmaker himself has been very vocal about his feelings. Personally, truly honestly, I saw it as a character film based on a character who was deeply dysfunctional, inherently violent, who had many emotional issues—and I loved the treatment,” said Karan said at the Forbes India Leadership Awards 2024.
Meanwhile, Kareena is preparing for the release of her chick-flick, Crew. She will be sharing the screen with Tabu and Kriti Sanon. The film also stars Diljit Dosanjh in a pivotal role. The film is slated to release on March 29. This marks her first film with Tabu and Kriti Sanon.
