Auto industry expects more in budget
The industry expects P Chidambaram to implement measures to enlarge the auto market, said Mahindra Chief.

New Delhi: Mahindra and Mahindra Limited Managing Director Anand Mahindra said on Thursday that the automotive sector is looking at a better share of the pie in the next Union Budget with reduction in excise tax.

The industry expects Finance Minister P Chidambaram to implement measures to enlarge the market, said Mahindra, who was in Panaji to participate in the inaugural session of Euroindia Forum Conference.

The automotive sector has been multiplying in the market contributing substantially to the economy, said Mahindra as quoted by PTI.

"The industry currently shares three per cent sales tax in addition to VAT. This dual taxing policy should be revived," he added.
