New Delhi: The Mittal group is keen to set up a steel plant in Jharkhand and will not go anywhere else, Jharkhand Chief Minister Madhu Koda told PTI on Monday.

Denying reports in a section of the media that Mittals took back the proposal to set up a steel plant in Jharkhand, Koda said "the Mittals are not going anywhere".

"We have assured them all help with their proposed steel plant. Let them select the site, we are prepared to provide the infrastructure including iron ore", Koda was quoted by PTI.

On ban on export of iron ore, Koda said the Centre will have to take a concrete step in this regard as it was not possible for state governments to impose a blanket ban on export of iron-ore.

However, Jharkhand government has taken a clearcut stand that the iron-ore block would be alloted to investors, willing to set up value-added projects, he said.

The interest of the state as well as the country would be given priority in allocation of iron-ore blocks, he said. Even in the case of Mittal, the state government would accord importance to its interest and conditions, he maintained.

He said the representatives of Mittal group will be visiting Ranchi in the last week of April, probably on the 27-28th, to hold discussion with the government, and asserted that Jharkhand was on the right track of development.
