New Delhi: A victory of sorts for Anil Ambani's Reliance Energy, after Dadri project they have Sasan in their kitty.

The company has won the bid for Sasan ultra mega power project at Rs 1.19 per unit. Sasan would be a 4000-mega watt coal based project.

This was after a consortium led by Lanco was disqualified by an empowered group of ministers last week on grounds of misrepresentation.

Government will partially refund Lanco to avoid litigation.

Reliance energy was the second lowest bidder with Rs 1.29 per unit. Three contenders Reliance energy, NTPC and Jaiprakash industries were then asked to submit fresh bids to the Sasan board.

"The revised bid of Reliance Power Ltd quoting levelised tariff of Rs 1.19616 per kwh was the lowest of the three bids. The EGoM has advised that the procurer should consider taking immediate action to issue the letter of intent to the lowest bidder," PTI quoted Power Minister Sushilkumar Shinde as saying.

The change in ownership and allegation of Lanco-Globeleq misrepresenting facts in their bidding documents forced bid process coordinator Power Finance Corporation and the government to review its decision. The Empowered Group of Ministers headed by Shinde, last week declared Lanco's bid invalid.

Following directions from the EGoM, Sasan Power Ltd, the special purpose vehicle set up by PFC, had asked RPL, NTPC Ltd and Jaiprakash Associates - to submit fresh bids. Jaiprakash and NTPC, however, did not change their bids from the original Rs 1.65 and Rs 2.12 per unit, but RPL lowered its bid from the earlier Rs 1.29 per unit to bag the project.
