RIL-RNRL battle continues, case to reach SC
RIL says can't sign any deal with RNRL without government's nod.

Mumbai: Centre could become the third party in the acrimonious dispute between the Ambani brothers.

Sources have told Network18 that the government may intervene if Mukesh Ambani promoted Reliance Industries Limited (RIl) approaches the Supreme Court Anil Ambani's Reliance Natural Resources (RNRL).

RIL on Tuesday rejected RNRL's offer for talks saying it cannot sign any agreement without the government's nod on price, quantity and tenure for gas supply.

But RNRL on Wednesday wrote back a letter to RIL reminding it to uphold the HC verdict.

“Your (RIL’s) letter demonstrates the intention of deliberately and wantonly defying and avoiding compliance with the directions of the honourable court and delaying the implementation of the order,” RNRL said in the letter.

The letter further said that the price at which RIL would supply gas to RNRL need not require the government’s approval.

RIL is believed to preparing to move the Supreme Court sometimes this month.

The dispute relates to the KG Basin D6 gas. RIL had, during the de-merger, agreed to supply gas to RNRL at $2.34 per unit, But RIL later backtracked and said it could supply gas at only $4.2 per unit.

RNRL won the first round of legal battle when the Bombay High Court on June 15 upheld its plea and asked RIL to honour the family MoU.
