New Delhi: German software giant SAP has opened a facility in Bangalore and is looking forward to recruiting some 7,000 Indian professionals.
The software giant will also collaborate with IIIT-Bangalore and BITS-Pilani to source engineering talent for professional training.
The students from IIT and the engineering institutes will be selected through a technical entrance test and an interview and will later work at the SAP labs.
"SAP has clarified that the company stands by its 2006 announcements on the company's headcount projection for 2010," the company said in a statement sent to Reuters.
"The company is not making any additional headcount projections for India, but continues to foresee rapid growth in the country."
Reuters had earlier reported a higher figure based on a statement from the company provided in Bangalore.
SAP, which competes with U.S.-based Oracle, said on Tuesday it had doubled the number of customers in India to 2,000 in the past year, and reaffirmed plans to invest $1 billion in Asia's third-largest economy to boost growth.
