Tomato prices skyrocket, reach Rs 80 per kg in Delhi
In the national capital, tomato prices have gone up from Rs 60 per kg to Rs 80 per kg within a week.

New Delhi: With prices sky rocketing, tomato dishes may not be the menu in many household across the country. The soaring price of tomato is the biggest concern of the common people across India.

In the national capital, tomato prices have gone up from Rs 60 per kg to Rs 80 per kg within a week. It has increased from Rs 50 to Rs 68 per kg in Bangalore.

In Hyderabad, the retail price was Rs 50 last week and has now soared to Rs 60 per kg. In Chennai, it has gone up from Rs 60 to Rs 68 per kg and in Mumbai from Rs 60-65 to Rs 65-75 per kg.

Last week, Union Agriculture Minister Radha Mohan had said that prices will decrease after more rainfall later this month. "This government is more active than previous government over prices of vegetables. The Met department is of the view that rain will be good in July, so prices will decrease this month," he said.
