So, what do passengers hope to gain at the end of all this interminable debate?
First of all both the Mumbai and Delhi terminals will be upgraded to international standards post-privatisation.
With GMR-Fraport as GVK-South Africa as the new in-charges, the Delhi and the Mumbai airports could possibly match the Frankfurt airport in terms of facilities.
There may be more space for parking planes on the ground as the hangar space will be increased. That could cut down the unnecessary and endless wait in the skies due to excess traffic.
There could also be an increase in parallel runways which will allow more aircraft to fly in and out, reducing delays.
There will also be world class duty-free shopping, restaurants and even a golf course at the Delhi airport.
