After creating havoc for over 40 hours in parts of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry, cyclonic storm Michaung is poised for landfall by Andhra Pradesh’s Bapatla coast in forenoon on Tuesday. The rain subsided in Chennai, bringing relief to residents from severe waterlogging and power outages.

Currently, there is no water stagnation on runways and taxiways at the airport, however, a lot of slush/filth has gathered there and four Crash Fire Tenders (CFTs) have been deployed for the cleaning process. Manpower is also engaged in cleaning work.
The Chennai Team confirmed that all Communications, Navigation and Surveillance Systems (CNS) and Air Traffic Management (ATM) facilities are working normally, and they are withdrawing the notice to airmen (NOTAM).
Hence, the airfields have been opened from 9:00 am today, after 24 hours.
Airlines and other stakeholders have also been intimated for planning their operations accordingly. AAI would disseminate this information to the general public through social media.
ATM would give priority for departures to clear the stranded passengers at the airport.
There are 21 aircraft on the ground and around 1500 passengers in the terminals. Food and Beverage Concessions has ensured that an adequate quantity of food is available in their outlets for stranded passengers.
The Chennai Airport Team has been advised to ensure proper upkeep of terminals, traffic management, availability of trollies and all other passenger facilities.
North coastal Tamil Nadu and Puducherry are expected to experience light to moderate rainfall in most places and isolated heavy rainfall on Tuesday morning, decreasing thereafter, according to the latest IMD bulletin.
