Kannada actor Chikkanna was propelled to fame with the 2014-film Adhyaksha. Now, he is all set to play the lead in the film Upadhyaksha. The shooting of this film has been wrapped up and it will hit the big screens this month. Now, the makers have amped up fans’ expectations around the film by unveiling the lyrical video of one of its songs. The song is titled Nanage Neenu and has been composed and arranged by Arjun Janya. Singers Vijay Prakash and Rakshitha Suresh have provided their vocals to this track, penned by AP Arjun. The song captures the endearing chemistry between Chikkanna and debutante actress Malaika Vasupal’s characters. The lyrical video has garnered more than 3,00,000 views.
Listeners loved the track. One of them commented, “Absolutely in love with the vocals, Rakshita Suresh and VP sir! Lyrics antu, brilliance to the next level! next big anthem in this season of love! Listening to this on a loop! Keep rising high, Rakshh!". Others also appreciated the singers.
Anand Audio also unveiled the official teaser of this film on October 21. The teaser provides a glimpse into the plot of Upadhyaksha, which shows a powerful landowner ruling the village. Chikkanna’s character challenges him and also ends up falling in love with his daughter. A highlight of the teaser is Chikkanna mimicking one of Shah Rukh Khan’s dialogues from the film Darr to woo his lady love. The teaser is replete with glimpses of fight and dance sequences.
As per the reports, Upadhyaksha went on floors at the end of 2021 and took almost a year to complete. In December last year, the makers stated that the shooting for Upadhyaksha was complete and that they are planning to release it in February 2023. That failed to happen for reasons unknown and the movie’s release was postponed indefinitely. Reportedly, the post-production of this film took a lot of time.
Chikkanna is known for his impeccable comic timing. He is among the few list of comic actors from different film industries who have graduated to play lead roles like Vadivelu and Sunil.
