'Go Strength to Strength': Sachin Tendulkar and Jay Shah Lead the Cheers as India Beat Pakistan in Women’s T20 World Cup

The Indian Women’s team managed to pick up their first win of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2024 as they beat Pakistan in a low-scoring affair that took place in Dubai on Sunday.

The Indian team were in dire need of a win after the loss against New Zealand in the previous game. But the Harmanpreet Kaur-led side managed to pull through as they secured the win by six wickets to pick up their first points in the group stage.

Following India’s win over their arch-rivals, several notable personalities took to social media to congratulate the side on their win.

The Master Blaster aka Sachin Tendulkar shared his congratulations to the women’s team on X. His post read, “Congratulations to the Indian Women’s team on winning the World Cup match against Pakistan. This is a great comeback after the first game, and I hope we go from strength to strength from this match onwards”.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Secretary, Jay Shah shared his hearty congratulations to the Women in Blue for their win over Pakistan. He also gave special mention to Arundhati Reddy who was the pick of the Indian bowlers with three wickets to her name.

His post said, “Good win for the Women in Blue against Pakistan in the #T20WorldCup! Our girls used the conditions to perfection in the first half, and a special mention to Arundhati Reddy for her 3-wicket haul! On to the next fixture, where we aim to secure back-to-back wins!”

Another user also shared his wishes to the Indian side for their first win of the tournament in the 2024 edition.

This user also congratulated the team for their win over Pakistan. He termed the win as a big one for the side.

India will now have must-win games in their remaining group-stage games against Sri Lanka and the defending champions Australia. To keep things in their hands, the side would have to pick up both wins to ensure that they can progress through to the knockouts.
