The Indian team led by Shubman Gill have made just one change in their playing 11 for the second T20I against Zimbabwe in Harare. They have given the debut to the young left-handed batting sensation Sai Sudarshan who comes in place of Khaleel Ahmed.

Shubman Gill’s side has certainly disappointed with the bat as they were unable to chase down 116 runs to mark their first loss after being crowned the World Champions in the same format.

The 22-year-old southpaw hails from Chennai, Tamil Nadu and was noticed by the Gujarat Titans during his 2022 season in the Tamil Nadu Premier League where he scored 336 runs in the 10 games he featured for the season.

The current squad comprises a lot of young talent along with those who have not been a regular feature in the side, particularly in the shorter format. Sudharshan has certainly taken the Indian Premier League (IPL) by storm. He made his debut with the Gujarat Titans and has significantly improved his game, scoring 527 runs in 2024, his best tally in a season to date.
He has already made his debut in the 50-over format where he has scored two half-centuries in the three games he has featured in. He also has experience playing in English conditions with brief stints for Surrey as well.

His versatility in playing anywhere in the top order is also something that has to be noted. He has played at the top of the batting order and has not struggled too much in terms of his scoring.
The Indian team will hope to put up a better effort and Sudharshan will certainly be aiming to seize the opportunity that has been presented before him and hopefully be a regular starter for the Indian side.
