The Mumbai Indians managed to return to winning ways thanks to a scintillating century knock by Suryakumar Yadav to help beat the Sunrisers Hyderabad by seven wickets and 16 balls to spare at the Wankhede Stadium.
MI were able to put up a fine performance with the ball to start things off with the skipper Hardik Pandya along with the veteran Piyush Chawla picking up three wickets each to restrict SRH to just 174.
Despite the top-order collapse in the powerplay, Suryakumar Yadav steadied the ship along with Tilak Varma to steer the chase home in favour of the Mumbai-based franchise.

Top 5 Batters in Orange Cap Race
Virat Kohli: The RCB icon continues to shine consistently. With the side now hitting their strides and hoping to secure a spot in the playoffs following a disastrous start to the IPL, the Bengaluru-based franchise will hope that Kohli can continue scoring the big runs for them in a bid for a spot in the playoffs.
Ruturaj Gaikwad: The burden of the captaincy has not weighed down the opening batter for the five-time champions CSK. Gaikwad seems to have hit his stride with the bat along with the responsibility of leading the side. Despite injuries hampering the bowling attack, the skipper continues to score runs consistently and will hope to do so to clinch a spot in the top-4.
Sunil Narine: Having found his form with the bat, he has been in immense form for the Kolkata Knight Riders and his batting contributions have served the side in good stead who are fighting for a spot at the top of the points table.
Travis Head: The explosive batter might not have lit up the Wankhede like he would have wanted to but he scored a crucial 48 runs for the Sunrisers and helped them put up a par score. His contributions at the top are one of the primary reasons why the Hyderabad-based unit is still in contention for a spot in the playoffs.
KL Rahul: The LSG skipper has been the shining light for the struggling LSG franchise. Despite being in contention for a spot in the top-four the lack of support with the batting unit has hampered KL’s ability to score runs consistently. LSG hopes to see the skipper continue scoring runs and take them to their third consecutive playoff.
Top 5 Bowlers in Purple Cap Race
Jasprit Bumrah: The MI ace continues to impress with the ball. Against SRH he picked up a crucial wicket in the powerplay to get the ball rolling. The minimal runs conceded off his bowling were also able to build some pressure onto the opposition batters as well. Both MI and Indian cricket fans will hope to see him continue firing on all cylinders in the prelude to the T20 World Cup.
Harshal Patel: The leading wicket-taker for the Punjab Kings has been crucial in their rise to form. In the most recent fixture against CSK, he was able to get the big wicket of MS Dhoni for a first-ball duck which shocked many. His ability with the slower deliveries makes him a crucial part of PBKS’ death-bowling unit.
Varun Chakravarthy: The return to form for the mystery spinner has propelled the KKR side to contention for a spot at the top of the table. With him firing, he allows the bowling unit to be arguably amongst the best in the league this season.
T Natarajan: The left-arm pacer might not have had an ideal outing against MI but has had a fine season’s performance so far. With SRH fighting for a spot in the top 4, they will hope that Natarjan can get back to taking wickets regularly in the upcoming games.
Arshdeep Singh: The left-arm pacer for PBKS, has been fairly decent for the side which has gotten them to turn the tides to their season after a fairly poor start. His return to form will be crucial ahead of the T20 World Cup along with the side still in contention for a spot in the playoffs.
