Days after his animated chat with KL Rahul created a furor on social media, Lucknow Super Giants’ co-owner Sanjiv Goenka had another discussion with his captain after the team’s latest defeat in the ongoing season of IPL.
Goenka still looked lively but this time, he also managed to crack a smile unlike the last time as it appeared he was having a go at Rahul after LSG received a 10-wicket thrashing from Sunrisers Hyderabad.
LSG’s defeat to DC was their third straight in a row and seventh overall which has severely dented their hopes of making it to the playoffs now.
LSG head coach Justin Langer and assistant coach Lance Klusener claimed a simple discussion has been blown out of proportion.
“It’s a massive storm in a teacup, in fact in an espresso cup,” Langer told The Times of India. “The thing that fascinates me about India is this incredible passion about cricket. Mr Goenka is no different. I’m no different. KL is no different.”

In fact, on Tuesday, pictures of Goenka and Rahul hugging it out during a dinner were shared widely on social media signaling all is well within the LSG camp.
During LSG’s Tuesday night clash with DC, Goenka was seen applauding Rahul successfully diving and taking a catch on second attempt to get rid of Shai Hope at the Arun Jaitley Stadium.
In another interview, Langer quipped that the reaction to Rahul-Goenka chat is the fifth surprise of his life after the birth of his four daughters.
“I was so surprised by the reaction,” Langer told Revsportz. “It was incredible. I thought about it a lot for the last four days. There are not very many surprises in my life. I have had four surprises in my life. They were the four sexes of my daughter, when they were born, because I had no idea. And they kept coming out. I said, ‘It’s a girl’. Four girls but we didn’t know. It was a great surprise, as we did not know. When I saw the reaction the other night, it was the fifth surprise of my life.”
