Venkatesh Iyer disclosed that he carried a WWE Championship belt replica with him all the time.

Kolkata Knight Riders batter Venkatesh Iyer has revealed himself to be a massive WWE fan in a recent interview. In the latest episode of the Knights Dugout Podcast, Iyer revealed his liking for entertainment wrestling despite knowing that it was not real. Speaking to the show host, the KKR batter said, “I like it for the storyline… I hate it when someone says it’s fake.” He then joked about how he used to strongly believe some of the company’s storylines. Giving an example, he said, “For the longest time I used to believe that the Undertaker died and resurrected seven times”. The cricketer then went on to demonstrate a WWE move as he replicated a half ‘Chokeslam’ as well.

In the same interview, Venkatesh Iyer also disclosed that he carried a WWE Championship belt replica with him all the time. This revelation prompted the host to ask the other guest on the show, the head coach of KKR Chandrakant Pandit, to enquire about the lad’s age. Chandrakant hilariously said, “Well, I always believe that he is 15”. The chucklesome response from the head coach left the entire table laughing.

Venkatesh Iyer recently came up with a stunning performance for KKR, playing a crucial knock against the Mumbai Indians yesterday. Playing at the Wankhede Stadium on Friday, May 3, KKR looked to end their 12-year-long winless streak at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. The five-time champions won the toss and elected to bowl first. The visitors were off to a terrible start, losing five wickets while stitching together just 57 runs. That was when Iyer showed up with the willow, smashing a 52-ball 70. His innings included six boundaries and three sixes which helped KKR to put up a total of 169 runs.

In the second half, KKR were able to return the favour as the bowling trio of Varun Chakravarthy, Andre Russell and Sunil Narine combined for multiple early dismissals. MI were unable to fend off this attack, finding themselves at 5/70 in less than 12 overs. Suryakumar Yadav tried to recover the innings with a half-century but was dismissed by Russell in the 16th over. KKR’s Australian pacer Mitchell Starc scalped four wickets to seal a victory for the two-time champions by 24 runs. KKR will next face KL Rahul-led Lucknow Super Giants on Sunday, May 5.
