Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) have officially announced that the West Indies wicketkeeper-batter, Nicholas Pooran will be the vice-captain of the side ahead of the 2024 season of the Indian Premier League (IPL).
Pooran has been a consistent performer in various franchise cricketing leagues around the world and has been a mainstay on the national side as well. With the bat, he can prove to be a game-changer which LSG will be looking to bank on for the upcoming season.
In the previous season, Pooran played in the middle order for LSG and racked up 358 runs in 15 matches at an impressive strike rate of 172.95. He will be expected to continue and deliver for the side in their pursuit of their maiden title.

The explosive batter will be replacing the Indian all-rounder Krunal Pandya for the role of the skipper’s deputy. Pandya had stepped in as the skipper when Rahul had picked up the injury which ruled him out of the tournament.
LSG will look to capitalise on the experience of Pooran who has been playing franchise cricket around the world. The franchise had also bought Pooran for a whopping price of 16 crores as well in the auction held in December 2022.
Notably, he had hit an impressive unbeaten score of 137 off 55 deliveries in the finals of the inaugural season of Major League Cricket where Pooran represented the MI New York.

He followed it up with another title. This time with the MI Emirates in the ILT20 league in the United Arab Emirates.
The 28-year-old will look to make the most of the upcoming IPL season as he will aim to best prepare himself for the upcoming T20 World Cup which is being held in the West Indies and the United States of America.

The franchise has also roped in another West Indies talent, Shamar Joseph following his heroics at the Gabba to give his side a historic Test victory against reigning WTC champions, Australia by picking up seven wickets in the second innings to give them an emphatic win.
