'Markram's Been A Great Leader...SA Will Go Into Final With Confidence': Former SA Spinner Weighs Proteas Chances in T20 WC Final vs India
Similar to Rohit Sharma, Aiden Markram has played a pivotal role in leading his Proteas to an undefeated campaign so far.

The final day of action is well and truly upon us. And it is the two undefeated teams that stand in each other’s way, one win away from eternal glory: the T20 World Cup trophy.

For South Africa, it’s the first time they are playing a men’s Cricket World Cup final after seven previous heartbreaks in the knockouts. But the Aiden Markram-led side haven’t crumbled under pressure and have managed to come out on top every single time by winning key moments.

In an exclusive interview with IANS, former South Africa spinner Paul Adams, who played 45 Tests and 25 ODIs, talked about the Proteas entering the title clash, how they stack up against a formidable Indian team and Aiden Markram stepping up as the leader.

“I think it’s a massive occasion for South Africa. As a cricket player, plus as cricket fans, and South Africans, there’s always been this voodoo of South Africa not entering the finals of the competition,” stated Adams.

“But it is a World Cup final, and first time, the South Africa men’s walk there, where the nation’s on their shoulders. I’m sure they’ll take a lot of confidence from playing finals previously in various tournaments and they can take it forward into their play in the final.”

Similar to Rohit Sharma, Aiden Markram has played a pivotal role in leading his Proteas to an undefeated campaign so far. With his intelligent rotation of bowlers, Markram has infact shaped up South Africa to be one of the most feared bowling attacks in the tournament, and much praise has to placed on the skipper.

“What I see is he’s been handling the pressure really well. More so, it’s his decision-making in the moment has been clinical,” exclaimed Adams.

“He’s also known when the seamers had to attack and how to manages them, like does he bowl them through, especially in that semi-final against Afghanistan where there was a lot of assistance for them… He has been a good leader, and if you look at him from the outside, it’s that calmness, how he manages the troops and how he just sort of he’s getting the best out of a lot of these players.”
