'Mayank Hasn't Touched 150': Bangladesh Commentator Takes Jibe at IND Pacer, Gets Brutal Reply from Murali Karthik
In both matches against Bangladesh, pacer Mayank Yadav clocked as fast as 149 kmph but didn’t breach the 150 mark.

Mayank Yadav has been the talk of the town ever since he burst into the scene. Earlier this year, the right-arm quick showcased his raw pace, frequently clocking above 150. His fastest delivery was recorded for 156.7 kmph and even impressed with his flawless precision in his lines and lengths. Representing the Lucknow Super Giants, he bagged the Player of the Match award twice in a row before getting sidelined for the rest of the tournament due to injury.

After going through intense rehabilitation, Mayank was called up for the Bangladesh T20Is and was handed his debut in Gwalior. He kicked off his international career with a maiden over before bagging his maiden wicket in Mahmudullah. He also featured in the second T20I at his home ground, Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi, where India defeated Bangladesh by 86 runs to take an assailable lead.

In both matches, Mayank clocked as fast as 149 kmph but didn’t breach the 150 mark. While calling the game, cricketer-turned-commentator Tamim Iqbal underlined the fact that the Delhi pacer hasn’t bowled the quickest for which he is known but was wittily silenced by co-commentator Murali Kartik.

“Mayank Yadav has not touched 150 in this series,” Tamim Iqbal said during commentary.

“Neither has Bangladesh,” replied Murali Kartik, who was his fellow commentator.

Earlier in Gwalior, Yadav had equalled Ajit Agarkar’s 18-year-old record, becoming only second Indian bowler to begin his T20 career with a maiden over. Speaking on Jio Cinema after India’s clinical win, Yadav revealed he was nervous on the debut as he hadn’t played competitive cricket since getting injured in the IPL.

“I was indeed excited but was a bit more nervous. This series marked my comeback after the injury. I didn’t play competitive cricket and then directly made my debut. That’s why I was a little more nervous,” Yadav had told Jio Cinema.

“The recovery period was tough for more. Quite a lot of ups and downs were there in the last 4 months. But more than me, it was tougher for the people who worked with me,” he added.
