As many were eagerly waiting to see the young speed demon, Mayank Yadav in action, one thing is for certain, he managed to deliver as expected on his T20I debut against Bangladesh in Gwalior on Sunday.
The 22-year-old began his international career on a positive note as he secured a maiden over to begin his T20I career.
As a result of his run-less over, he also became the first Indian after the former Indian pacer, Ajit Agarkar to begin his T20I career with a maiden. Agarkar who is now the chairman of the BCCI selection committee had begun his T20I career with a maiden against South Africa during the one-off match played during India’s tour of South Africa in 2006/07
Mayank however, dialled it up as it was his second over that delivered his first international wicket. While he may not be bowling at the 150kph mark, he is already showing his lethal pace against the Bangladeshi batters, hitting the mid-140s regularly. The speedster managed to get the wicket of the experienced Mahmudullah to get his international career going on a flying note.
The batter looked to come down the track and towards the leg side to make some room but he managed to slice it away on the off-side which found the field at the deep point region where Washington Sundar took the catch.

The youngster has shown glimpses of his potential simply after making his debut in international cricket. If he can continue this path, he is certainly one for the future as his pace will be a problem even for the best of batters.
The Indian team have been dominant on the bowling front as wickets have tumbled on a regular basis as Bangladesh is on the verge of being all-out for a low total.
With the tail-enders remaining at the moment, maybe Suryakumar Yadav could hand the ball over to Mayank to clean up the final set of batters to end the first innings quickly and come out to bat.
