Oman will face Scotland in their third game of the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 on Sunday. They began their campaign with a Super-Over affair against Namibia. Oman lost that tie-breaker by 11 runs.
They next took on 2021 T20 world cup winners Australia. Oman were quite impressive with the ball and didn’t allow Australia to run away after opting to bowl first. Mehran Khan took a couple of wickets but a measured half-century from David Warner and Marcus Stonis’ quick 36-ball 67* helped Australia to a good total.
Oman never looked comfortable in the chase and Ayan Khan’s 36 was their top score.
Mehran made a decent contribution with the bat as well, hitting 27 off 16.
Oman finished with 125/9 as Australia secured a 39-run win.
With two losses at the tournament, Oman are on the verge of an early exit. They will hope to get the better of Scotland.
The Oman versus Scotland clash will take place at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium on June 9. Scotland’s campaign began without a result after their match against England was abandoned due to rain. The Scottish side remained focused as they beat Namibia next by five wickets. Michael Leask won the Player of the Match award after taking a wicket and scoring 35 runs.
