'One Cannot Win Against India by...': Sourav Ganguly Predicts Indian Domination in Test Series Against England
The 51-year-old former Indian skipper, Ganguly, made a bold prediction regarding the ongoing Test series between India and England as he touted Rohit Sharma and Co. to register a resounding win in the five-match series.

Former Indian skipper Sourav Ganguly made a bold prediction regarding the ongoing Test series between India and England as the 51-year-old said that India would claim the five-match series comfortably.

“India will win the series, the matter is whether they will win it 4-0 or 5-0,” Ganguly said.

The opening Test of the series is underway at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Hyderabad as India managed to bundle out the Englishmen for 246 runs in the first innings before replying with a score of 436 to establish a 190-run lead.

“Every Test will be decisive. England could have won this Test match had they batted well. One cannot win against India by making 230 or 240 runs on Indian soil. Had they made 350 or 400, they could have beaten India, but they weren’t able to do that,” the former skipper explained.

Ganguly added that beating India on home soil is a tough nut to crack and that it was a big task for nearly any touring side.

“It’s a tough series for England. Any team other than the Australia of that era could not create any impact here,” the left-handed batsman opined.

England navigated their way past the Indian lead thanks to a massive ton from Ollie Pope, who remained unbeaten at stumps on Day 3.

Ganguly also expressed his opinion about India’s chances at the ICC T20 World Cup, slated to take place in June. The former Indian skipper said the ICC ODI World Cup Final loss to Australia was a shocker, especially considering how well India performed at the home event save for the final. But credited it to the uncertain nature of sport.

“India have a good chance in the T20 World Cup. Recently, India played in the World Cup final, and it was miserable that they lost against Australia. I didn’t expect that after playing in a very good manner throughout the tournament they will lose, but it happens in sports,” Ganguly said.

“India is a very good side. There will be another opportunity for India as the conditions in the West Indies and America are like India. The IPL will serve as a preparation for the World Cup,” the 51-year-old concluded.
