'Stand Up and Applaud the Greatness': Ex-IND Cricketers, Jay Shah and Others Hail India's Dominating Series Win Over Bangladesh
Several big-name personalities took to social media to congratulate India's hammering win over Bangladesh in Kanpur.

Team India was on the money as they secured the win over Bangladesh by seven wickets at Kanpur to claim the series sweep and also extend their dominance on home soil.

The win for India came from an unlikely position where inclement weather and a wet outfield resulted in Day 2 and Day 3 being washed out. With two days of playing time left to go, Rohit Sharma and co went on a record-breaking spree to help themselves get back in contention for a win and improve their chances of confirming a spot in the World Test Championship final for a third consecutive season.

As the Indian team secured the win, the former Indian pacer, Vinay Kumar hailed the efforts of securing a win with just three days of playing time under the belt.

“Winning a test match in three days! Unbelievable achievement. Superb attitude,” Vinay shared.

The out-of-favour Indian batter, Cheteshwar Pujara who continues playing first-class cricket also took to social media to praise the efforts of the Indian team. He reckons that the win will be a perfect setup for the challenges that lie ahead for the national side.

He said, ” Comprehensive performance to wrap up another dominating home series win! Sets it up perfectly for the challenges that lie in the long Test season ahead”.

The former cricketer-turned-pundit, Aakash Chopra also shared his thoughts on the win on his official handle on X. He praised India’s ruthlessness as they went on to take the win with 52 overs left in the day’s play.

“Batted only for 52 overs to win a Test match. Losing 2.5 days to the weather/conditions and still wrapping up the game with 1.5 sessions to spare. India’s the best Test team right now…and it showed why,” he shared.

Wasim Jaffer, the former Indian opening batter also appreciated India’s win from an improbable situation and he also credited the side for sealing the win with half a day to spare.

“Only 35 overs were bowled across the first 3 days. To get a win in the next 2 days Ind had to dismiss Ban, declare with a lead, dismiss Ban again, then chase the target. They did it with half a day to spare! Stand up & applaud the greatness,” Jaffer shared.

The former English skipper, Michael Vaughan had a very basic reaction on social media where he congratulated the Indian side for taking the win and taking one step forward in confirming their spot in the WTC finals.

The former Indian batter, Mohammed Kaif also credited Rohit Sharma and Gautam Gambhir’s ruthless approach to the game and believes that they can turn a boring draw into an entertaining win.

“Rain or thunderstorm nothing can stop Rohit Sharma and Gautam Gambhir’s Team India. This team knows the art of turning a boring draw into an entertaining win,” he shared.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India’s secretary, Jay Shah gave special mention to the Indian bowling unit for their impressive performance which allowed the side to take the win. He also appreciated the batting unit’s aggressive show which put them in a winning position as well.

Now their next assignment will be the three-match Test series against New Zealand at home followed by the five-match series against Australia where India would make the trip Down Under to defend the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024.
